Summer-Smart Skincare

After a refreshing body sugaring session, you're probably looking forward to enjoying the warm summer rays on your smooth skin. However, it's essential to understand how sun exposure can affect your freshly sugared skin to ensure you maintain that silky smoothness for as long as possible.

Why Sun Exposure Matters

Body sugaring, a natural hair removal method, leaves your skin feeling smooth and hair-free by gently removing hair from the root. While this process is less irritating than waxing, your skin can still be sensitive immediately afterward. Sun exposure can exacerbate this sensitivity and potentially lead to discomfort or even damage to your skin.

What to do after body sugaring:

1. Wait 24-48 Hours Before Sun Exposure: Allow your skin some time to recover post-sugaring. The first 24 to 48 hours are crucial for your skin to calm down and for any redness or irritation to subside.

2. Apply Sunscreen: Once you're ready to venture out into the sun, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher to protect your skin. This will prevent sunburn and premature aging, especially since sugaring can temporarily make your skin more susceptible to UV rays.

3. Cover Up: Consider wearing loose-fitting clothing that covers the areas where you've had sugaring done if you're planning to be outdoors for an extended period. This helps to shield your skin from direct sun exposure and reduces the risk of irritation.

4. Don't Use Tanning Beds: Avoid using tanning beds or sunlamps right after body sugaring. Your skin needs time to heal and using artificial tanning methods can increase the risk of irritation and damage.

5. Don't Exfoliate Immediately: While exfoliation is beneficial for maintaining smooth skin, avoid vigorous exfoliation immediately after sugaring and sun exposure. Opt for gentle exfoliation methods after a few days to avoid irritating your skin further. We have so many options at our studios to help with that! 6. Hydrate Your Skin: Keep your skin hydrated by drinking plenty of water and using a moisturizer designed for sensitive skin. This helps maintain your skin's elasticity and promotes faster healing.
